- Do you have a college degree, a good sense of humor, and the ability to roll with a little chaos? Then you might be just who we’re looking for! St. Louis School is in need of substitute teachers who can jump in, have fun, and keep the learning (and laughter) going. Interested? Contact Amy Newsom at 901-255-1900 or anewsom@stlouismemphis.org. (Bonus points if you know how to fix a jammed stapler.)
- Our St. Louis Parish Picnic, including our Trick or Treat Trail, is this Sunday, October 26! Bishop Talley will celebrate the 12:15 PM Mass with us. Following this Mass, Bishop Talley will dedicate and bless our new Monsignor John B. McArthur Mediation Garden and St. John Paul II Statue. Please come out and join your fellow parishioners and school families for a fun day of celebrating our parish!
- Crazy for Our Country is Friday, November 7. Through this day the Student Council will be raising money for Folds of Honor (org). Folds of Honor provides scholarships to the spouses and children of America’s fallen or disabled service members and all first responders. There is a class competition! Check out the Wednesday Wire for details.
- All students and parents are invited and encouraged to attend our annual Open House on Sunday, November 9 from 1:15-2:15 pm. Come see what Life as a Cardinal is all about, visit our school, meet our teachers, and see the amazing work of our incredible students!
- The SLS Student Council will be hosting our annual Veterans Day celebration this year on Tuesday, November 11. We are hoping to have many of our family members join us on this special day as we honor those who serve and have served. Please invite your veterans to our celebration. Additionally, our Student Council is creating a special slideshow and would love to honor your veteran. To include your hero in the slideshow, please complete this form by Monday, November 3.
Reminders
- Calling All Volunteers! We are so thankful for your time and support at St. Louis School! To volunteer with our school children, all adults must complete the online VIRTUS training at virtusonline.org. Thank you for partnering with us to keep our children safe and supported.
- Our Charleston Wrap Fall Fundraiser began on Monday, October 13 and ends on November 3. Fundraiser packets were sent home last week. Help us reach our fundraising goal!
- Calling All Ghouls and Goblins! Our Home & School is howling out for brave souls to host Trick-or-Treat Booths for this year’s Treat Trail! Sign up (if you dare) Treat Trail Sign-Up
o Early Birds (or should we say early bats?) — anyone who signs up by Friday, October 17 will be entered into a fang-tastic raffle prize!
o Best Booth Bonus: The creepiest, kookiest, most spook-tacular booth will win 2 tickets to this year’s School Auction (and other eerie-sistible prizes)!
o So dust off your broomsticks, grab your candy cauldrons, and help make this Treat Trail un-boo-lievably fun!
- We’re on the Hunt for Sweet Treats! Our Home & School Treat Trail needs mountains of candy — and we’re counting on you to help fill our cauldrons! Drop off your candy donations in the school office by October 25.
Make sure to label your bag with your child’s homeroom teacher’s name so their class gets credit! The class that donates the most candy will win a pizza party—talk about a sweet victory! As of today, 5A (Mrs. Nunn’s class) is crushing it and leading the pack! Can your class trick them out of first place?
- Are you on our Cardinal Cares distribution list? Cardinal Cares is an email list that informs SLS families when we have a family in need of prayers, support, meals, assistance, etc. To be added to this distribution list, please contact Paige Marcantel at paigewilson30@hotmail.com or 901.240.7353.
We have two upcoming events where you can both provide prayer and support to St. Louis Students:
