Student Council


The Student Council is a student run organization that fosters cooperation among all students. Its purpose is to promote community service both in and around the school. Students are encouraged to take a leadership role in the school. The members of the Student Council represent all St. Louis students. Each homeroom in grades 5-8 elects two homeroom representatives. Student Council officers are elected from members of the 7th and 8th grade class.

National Junior Beta Club


This honor is bestowed upon students in grades 6-8 who meet the following eligibility requirements: 3.75 GPA with a conduct grade average of a G or better; high recommendations from all classroom teachers; and demonstrated leadership ability. The National Junior Beta Club promotes character and social responsibility, encourages involvement to school and community, fosters leadership skills, and provides settings for children to develop interpersonal relationship skills.

Choir


Who can join?

Boys and girls in grades 4 through 8

When is choir practice?

Each Monday from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the Music Room. Ms. Collins will meet students in the music classroom each Monday. Parents may pick up their students from the breezeway at 5:00p.m.

When will we sing?

The choir will sing at monthly Children's Masses (10:30 on selected Sundays during the school year), at several School Masses, & at a few other church/school ceremonies during the school year.
What will we sing?

A variety of music including contemporary church songs, Latin church music, traditional hymns and popular Christmas songs.

What do we wear?

School uniforms or church clothes. (No jeans or tennis shoes.)

No, an audition is not necessary. Just come with a willingness to learn & have fun!

Robotics


STEM education is a prevalent component of education in today’s technologically advancing society.

The afterschool robotics program encourages students in grades 4-8 to participate in research, programming, and problem solving with Lego MindStorm Robots. St. Louis is proud of our teams which have participated in the First Lego League West Tennessee Championship.

The St. Louis Math Club participates in the West Tennessee MATHCOUNTS competition as well as the diocesan math competition. This team of seventh and eighth graders along with our fifth and sixth grade diocesan math competition team practice after school primarily during the winter months. Mrs. Mosteller, the teacher who sponsors this club, brings in many guest speakers for club members to hear throughout the year.

Junior High
Youth Ministry


St. Louis Church offers youth ministry opportunities for seventh through twelfth graders.  Our junior high youth ministry is for seventh and eighth grades and our senior high youth ministry is for ninth through twelfth grades.

Junior high youth ministry begins in September (after Labor Day) and continues through April.  Youth meet every other Sunday from 4:30 PM – 5:45 PM in the St. John Paul II Youth Ministry Center.

These meetings provide opportunities for prayer, reflection, teaching and fun.

Meetings are run by the parish youth director and volunteer adult advisors. Junior youth are invited to attend our annual lock-in/lock-out in the spring.  These youth also have the opportunity to attend a summer mission trip to Catholic HEART Workcamp.  Past junior high mission trip locations have included Mobile, AL, Pittsburgh, PA, Lexington, KY, Bluffton, SC, Davison, MI, Oklahoma City, OK, Chicago, IL, Tampa, FL, Cumberland, MD, Kansas City, KS, St. Louis, MO, Virginia Beach, VA, New Braunfels, TX, and Cincinnati, OH.
